From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The TV presenter was up against former X Factor 2014 contestant Jake Quickenden and World Superbike racer Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty in the final.
Joining Ant and Dec, she said: “I’m a bit gutted I’m not in the final but I’ve enjoyed everyday.
“It was better than I expected, I thought it was going to be hellish – I made some nice friends and I did have a laugh. I don’t want to sound corny but I did love it.”
The 44-year-old said she found dinner times in the camp the hardest part of the experience, especially when people tried to tell her what to do in the kitchen.
The model added that she particularly bonded with the boys, and thanked Jimmy for helping her survive her first week.
Sykes said she backed Foggy over Jake Quickenden to win before walking across the wooden drawbridge to leave the jungle.
