From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But even with all her years of experience in the kitchen, the 80-year-old couldn’t get her Beef Wellington crisp all over, as spotted by many of her adoring viewers.
The first episode of Mary Berry’s Foolproof Cooking was going without a hitch on BBC Two until just five minutes before the end when she cut into her Wellington.
Instead of being the crispy, perfect dish viewers have come to expect from the TV personality, we were (according to Twitter) met with an ‘undercooked’ meat with a ‘soggy bottom’.
“Mary Berry has just made a Beef Wellington and the pastry is raw! I’m horrified,” wrote one social media user, finishing off the Tweet with “#soggybottom”.
Berry recently made headlines after it was announced she, along with Paul Hollywood, would receive £100,000 pay rises for the next season of Great British Bake Off.
