From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Attendees of the New York Comic-Con were treated to a two-minute reel-clip over the weekend which showcased mainly scenes from the first season.
However, at the 1.30 mark, “Season 2, Coming 2016” flashed on screen, signalling the start of 30 seconds of brand new footage.
“Father, why do I still feel guilty,” Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch says to Father Lantom as Murdoch, Foggy and Karen are seen looking mournful in a church.
While not intended to be released online, the trailer leaked, quickly followed by its official release. Watch below.
The most exciting part, of course, is that we get our first look at Elodie Yung’s Elektra - who was briefly referenced last season - and Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher.
“He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the result,” Marvel have previously said of the iconic anti-hero.
The Punisher was last seen on screen in the 2012 short The Punisher: Dirty Laundry being played by Thomas Jane, the actor reprising the role from the 2004 film The Punisher.
Marvel’s Daredevil season two will be released onto Netflix in 2016. Marvel’s Jessica Jones, which takes place in the same fictional universe, will be released onto the streaming service 20 November.
