From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Moore discussed the forthcoming ceremony, which is scheduled for the 25 March, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, telling the host that it is “crazy” to think about the honour.
Kimmel showed her a photo of her star’s future location, which is close to a costume shop that Moore says she has visited in the past.
The actor said she has invited approximately the same number of people to the ceremony as she did to her 2018 wedding to musician Taylor Goldsmith.
Dan Fogelman, the creator of the hit series This Is Us, on which Moore plays the role of Rebecca Pearson, is set to give a speech during the event.
“He’s given me my life,” Moore told Kimmel of Fogelman. “It’s the reason I’m getting a star on the Walk of Fame.”
In order for a celebrity to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a nomination must be submitted in their name and with their agreement. A selection committee then reviews applications.
There is a $40,000 fee to cover the creation and maintenance of the star, which can be paid by industry executives (such as a recording label) or, on occasion, by fans.
