The 42-year-old, who is known for playing Rachel McGuire on the 90s show, will be starring in a movie titled Drive.
“They asked me to be a part of this, and I thought: ‘I never knew there was anything in adults or porn or whatever that was this well done,” Ward told In Touch Weekly. “I read the script and I was like: ‘This is really, really well-written’.
“This has so many themes in this and just my character is so different than anything I have portrayed before.”
According to Ward, who also starred in White Chicks and Rules of Engagement, her latest role gave her an opportunity to “really express myself in a way that I haven’t done before”.
“It’s just very deep sensuality, and I think that is a really fun way to play an explorer, and I got to do things that I wouldn’t have thought in the past,” she said. “Just these sexual situations that are sort of taboo.”
And while it may be different than her usual roles, the actress explained that the career pivot started “slowly” and emerged from an interest in cosplay, the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book or video game.
She also hopes her previous experience will add “legitimacy to a great project” and “get people to actually watch”.
However, she hasn’t ruled out doing a reboot of Boy Meets World, if the opportunity ever arises, telling the outlet she thinks it would be a “really fun thing”.

As for her confidence on social media, where she has shared promotion pictures for her latest role as well as photos of herself posing in lingerie, the actress said: “Over time, I kind of don’t give a f*** anymore.
“I want to be who I am, and I just think as I have matured too, I am who I am.”
