From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Laid in Chelsea: My Life Uncovered promises to reveal the 26-year-old’s most sordid stories of sexual encounters and humiliating mishaps.
Best known for his extravagant persona and ambiguous sexuality, Locke is one of Made in Chelsea’s most-loved characters.
After appearing in the first series with ex- girlfriend Gabriella Ellis, the socialite has gone on to have various dating disasters on the show.
Locke describes his memoir, which he has spoken about on the reality TV show, as “an exclusive backstage pass into my life and the hidden world of Chelsea”.
He says: “I’ll unleash all the embarrassing and intimate secrets that no one was ever supposed to know … until now. Like the time a romantic getaway to Paris ended in a case of chronic diarrhoea. And what really went on behind Gabriella’s bedroom door in Amsterdam!
After his upbringing in Southampton, Locke moved to London in 2006 where he worked unpaid for an independent magazine in Chelsea, before becoming the host of numerous exclusive nightclubs.
The book promises to show how the reality TV star left the “vomiting world of toffs behind” to make his on-screen debut.
Series 5 of Made in Chelsea begins on E4 on April 8th. Laid in Chelsea is available now through HarperCollins.
