Love Island fans were left scratching their heads during Friday’s (16 June) episode over the apparent disappearance of two contestants.

Charlotte, who joined the ITV reality show on Monday (12 June) as a bombshell contestant, and André had almost no airtime in the broadcast.

Later, their fellow contestants chose them to leave the island after they were left among the six islanders to receive the fewest votes from the public.

On Twitter, viewers expressed their confusion at the pair’s absence from the episode.

“Do Charlotte and Andre even exist anymore or were they a figment of my imagination?” One fan asked.

“Sometimes i completely forget andre and charlotte are in that villa,” another tweeted.

“Charlotte and Andre have obviously run off together, they are nowhere to be seen,” wrote a third.

Aged 30, dental nurse Charlotte was the oldest member of the villa while business owner André, 21, was among the youngest.

Charlotte’s age was immediately picked out by the male contestants who shared bleak, yet predictable responses.

After exiting the villa, André said: “It was a real shocker for me. Of course, we know the saying ‘expect the unexpected’ has to be in our heads in the Villa, but we get caught up in just living in the moment day-to-day.

“When I came to the understanding I was among the vulnerable Islanders it wasn’t the best feeling. Catherine was also among the most vulnerable Islanders and in my mind I was thinking, ‘I definitely don’t want this to be the end of her experience, let alone mine as well.”

André had been exploring a romantic connection with 22-year-old real estate agent Catherine again after the pair drifted following their coupling at the start of the series.

Meanwhile, Charlotte surmised: “It wasn’t a shock I got chosen to leave. I didn’t think the girls would send Catherine home because she was ‘day dot’. I knew it would be between me and Leah, so I thought they’d save Leah because she had more of a connection.

“I have no hard feelings at all. I had the best time and I’m so grateful.”
