From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The winter version of the series, which aired for the first time last year and was shot in South Africa, will not go ahead because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Sun.
To make up for its absence, the next series of Love Island will have an extended run beyond the usual eight weeks.
An ITV spokesman said: "Love Island UK will return bigger and better than ever with an extended run in summer 2021."
ITV had already announced there would be no summer series this year, instead repeating the 2018 Australian version of the show.
Laura Whitmore is expected to stay on as the host of the UK series when it returns.
Love Island is one of many shows that has been cancelled or halted production due to coronavirus.
It is still unknown whether Strictly Come Dancing will air this year. Former judge Arlene Phillips recently said the show would need to strip back production to return in 2020.
