From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The drama started when the boys headed off to the Casa Amor villa to meet a set of six new single women, while another set of six boys entered the original villa.
Now, of course, we know the fallout. Dani and Jack may have happily discovered they both decided to stay single (aww), Georgia discovered that Josh had abandoned her for another woman (boo).
Then there was Megan (booooo). After basically breaking up Wes/Laura – and promising Wes they would have a future together – the former stripper ran off with a new boy, all while Wes stayed loyal (Laura, meanwhile, cracked on with another partner).
The teaser for the latest episode, which you can watch above, begins with Wes and Megan seemingly making friends. But hold your horses – we soon discover Wes has other intentions; to exact revenge.
Watch above as Wes cracks a plan with the other original boys.
Meanwhile, Love Island continues to draw controversy, Ofcom reporting that over 2,500 people complained about the treatment of Dani Dyer on the show.
Love Island airs weekdays and Sundays at 9pm on ITV2.
