Love Island 2018 has caused quite a stir with viewers, an earlier storyline with Dani Dyer seeing over 2,500 people complain to Ofcom.

Thanks to another controversial plot – featuring the character Laura, current partner Jack, and his date with Georgia – the broadcast watchdog has received an addition 630 complaints.

To recap for those who have not been stringently following every episode, the drama began when singleton Georgia decided to take out New Jack on a date, despite the guy being coupled with Laura.

On the date, Georgia and Jack kissed, although Jack claims the kiss was not mutual, coming mainly from Georgia. After much debate over the kiss, Laura was eventually convinced by Jack, the pair getting back together and seeming relatively happy.

However, things took another turn when the boxer Idris entered the scene. The new contestant decided to take Laura on a date, revealing to the heartbroken part-time hairdresser that Jack had leaned in for the kiss. Watch the clip below.

Over on Twitter, viewers were furious, many calling for fellow users to complain about the storyline to Ofcom. “Can we please complain to Ofcom about deceitful and manipulative the producers are being,” one social media user wrote.

Ofcom has released a statement reading: ”We will assess these against our broadcasting code before deciding whether we will be investigating.”

There have been accusation of the Georgia and Jack kiss being ‘faked’ after an apparent second camera angle showed different scenes to the ones broadcast on ITV2. Plus, former contestants have claimed to have been directed by the producers on how to behave...

Whatever the case, The Independent will be bringing you the latest on all things Love Island. Follow along with out live-blog as things unwind in the villa.
