Olivia Jade Giannulli shared an emotional Mother’s Day tribute to her mother Lori Loughlin ahead of the actor’s trial for her role in the college admissions scandal.

The social media influencer last year found herself in the centre of the scandal after Full House star Loughlin and her father, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were charged with illegally paying $500,000 (£400,000) to help their daughters to get into university.

With Loughlin due to appear in court in October, the 20-year-old Giannulli seemingly brushed off criticism as she shared two childhood pictures of herself and her mother to celebrate Mother’s Day in the US on Sunday.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. Thank you God for mine,” Giannulli wrote.

“You are my best friend and have held my hand every day for 20 years making it look like motherhood is an easy job. You are one of a kind. I love you so so so much & cannot wait to give you all the love in the world today & forever.”

She continued: “Thank you for being you. You are the most special person to me. I am so blessed to be your daughter and so proud to call you mom. I LOVE YOU.”

Loughlin has consistently pleaded not guilty to her role in the scandal – nicknamed “Operation Varsity Blues” – having been accused of convincing a university admissions committee that her daughters would join the rowing team despite not practising the sport.

The actor was recently dealt another blow after her and a group of other defendants lost a bid to get their cases dismissed. She could face a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty.
