From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s just under a year until season five of the hit series Girls starts, but if you don’t feel you can wait that long for your next fix of the Brooklyn bunch then worry no more.

Lena Dunham, along with her three Girls co-stars Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, will be heading to Springfield to star in The Simpsons season 27 premiere.

The episode, entitled ‘Every Man’s Dream’, sees Homer become romantically involved with a young twenty-something year-old pharmacist named Candace, voiced by Dunham, after Marge files for divorce. Williams, Kirke and Mamet will be playing minor roles as Candace’s disapproving friends.

"We're having a Girls reunion, even though Girls is still on the air", Simpson’s executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly. “[Candace’s friends are] asking her the question that anybody normally would: ‘Why Homer?’, fulfilling the role that Patty and Selma have played on the show all these years.”

Along with the Girls stars, the episode will feature guest star Laura Ingraham, an American radio talk show host, who will be playing Homer and Marge’s therapist.

The episode is set to air September 27 later this year.
