From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The British Late Late Show host was joined by the vibrant singer who refused to let the seatbelt restrain her performance of tracks "Perfect Illusion" and "Bad Romance."
Corden watched in awe as the 30-year-old dropped some of her most renowned dance moves (mostly hand gestures) and spoke candidly about her songwriting process.
Watch the full video below:
"Is it true you can write a song in ten minutes?" Corden asked his passenger.
"I wrote "Just Dance" in ten minutes. "Poker Face" was ten minutes. "Born This Way" was ten minutes," she reeled off.
As well as the performance of the latter two, the singer - who will play next year's Super Bowl Half-Time Show - went on to perform "The Edge of Glory" and new track "Million Reasons."
At one stage, Gaga reveals she owns 40 pieces of Michael Jackson's clothing including his Thriller jacket telling Corden they're all kept in a temperature-controlled room so as to preserve its pristine condition.
Executive producer Ben Winston expressed his delight at the "special" segment, stating on his Twitter account: 'We've wanted this carpool since we started the show."
Previous Carpool Karaoke participants include One Direction, Michelle Obama and, most recently, Britney Spears.
