The actor, who voiced the titular character through the original show’s six seasons, will reprise the role in an upcoming HBO Max reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl,” producers told the website on Thursday.
Bell left her mark on the show by recording Gossip Girl’s narration, including catchphrases such as: “And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell” in the opening credits.
“Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite” was also an iconic introduction appearing at the start of each episode.
After six seasons of anonymity, Gossip Girl was revealed to be Dan Humphrey in the December 2012 series finale ”New York, I Love You XOXO”.
It was announced in July this year that HBO’s streaming service would air a reboot of the the 2007 CW series.
A new group of private school students will once again be tormented by their own Gossip Girl – this time with the added drama of social media.
