Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jimmy Kimmel turned 50 on Monday, with his talk show hosting a special episode to honour the host.
However, the surprises held within weren't all treats, as the tables were finally turned on Kimmel - instead of his celebrity buddies reading mean tweets about themselves, they got together to read mean tweets about him.
The segment was littered with stars, with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Liam Neeson, Jeff Bridges, and Chris Hemsworth all launching into some of the cruellest barbs around.
"This is going to sound fantastic, but I forgot Jimmy Kimmel's name so I googled 'ugly late night talk show host' and I got him, top link," Larry David managed to choke out, through a fit of laughter (there's more, a lot more, of that here).
Kim Kardashian stopped by with a tweet courtesy of her own husband, Kanye West, reading: "Jimmy Kimmel put yourself in my shoes... oh no that means you would have gotten too much good p*ssy in your life."
"Fair point," she commented.
