Jimmy Kimmel removes ‘all the misinformation’ from Trump’s speech in late-night skit
Trump released the 46-minute video, which is filled with baseless claims about the election, on Facebook
Jimmy Kimmel edited “all the misinformation” out of Donald Trump’s 46-minute, conspiracy-filled address about the 2020 election – and not much was left in the end.
The late-night host unveiled the new clip on Thursday’s episode of his late-night show.
Trump shared the video on his Facebook account the previous day.
“Our dear misleader – you have to admit, he inspires people. He’s a man of no shame,” Kimmel said. “Yesterday he released a video that looked like a live press conference, but it was not. It was a badly edited ‘lie-atribe’ that was so full of falsehoods three fact-checkers died during this speech.”
The host said he and his team “decided to whittle out all the misinformation” from the clip.
“This is what was left,” he added before unveiling a much shorter video of Trump.
In this edited version, the president can be heard saying: “This election is done. Joe Biden is going to be your next president. It’s too late to change the outcome. Congratulations. The days of Donald Trump are coming to an end, and it’s been like living in hell. What can I say? I’m sorry. I’m sorry.
“So with the resolve and support of the American people, Joe Biden will do what’s right for our country. And I hope that Joe Biden will restore trust in our system of government.”
Kimmel’s edited version is at odds with the baseless claims of voter fraud that Trump and his campaign have peddled for the past few weeks.
Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election and will be inaugurated on 20 January 2021.
