From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It's renewed Jessica Jones for a third season, after its second dropped to fanfare on International Women's Day. The follow-up didn't welcome quite the adulatory reception with critics as the first time round, with a baggier plot and loss in focus, yet it still stands up as the most praised amongst the streaming giant's Marvel shows.
There's little indication as to what viewing figures the show's actually landed so far, since streaming services like Netflix, alongside Amazon and Hulu, do not release viewership information.
One interesting thing to note is that the revival's been kept on Netflix; last year, Disney pulled all of its Marvel feature films from Netflix for its own planned streaming service, which is meant to include Marvel original TV series.
Whether these shows will be entirely separated from the Defenders (also including Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist) is yet to be seen.
Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, and Carrie-Ann Moss. A return date is yet to be announced.
