Jessica Jones is getting a second season on Netflix.

The streaming service announced the news at the Television Centre Association's (TCA) press conference at the weekend.

The second of five original Netflix television shows from Marvel, Jessica Jones was met with unanimous acclaim when it was unveiled on the streaming service last November.

The second season announcement comes a few weeks after the confirmation that Daredevil will be returning this March.

No word yet on a premiere date although Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as the former-superhero-turned-private-investigator.

The next Marvel shows to debut on Netflix will be Luke Cage and Iron Fist with The Defenders - a series featuring all four of the superheroes - expected to start production soon.

Netflix's chief content officer Ted Santos stated that The Defender's production "will really determine" when Jessica Jones will return.

The TCAs also fuelled rumours of a Punisher series which would focus on the villainous character set to be introduced in Daredevil's upcoming season, played by Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead).
