FBI seize firearms at Jake Paul's house

The neighbours of YouTube star Jake Paul have reported hearing “loud explosions” prior to an FBI raid.

On Wednesday 5 August, Paul’s house was raided by an armed FBI swat team. The FBI confirmed to The Independent that the raid took place as part of an ongoing investigation.

The FBI has not disclosed the exact purpose of the raid, but officers were seen removing guns from the building, and it was confirmed that the raid was undertaken in connection to reports that Paul had taken part in a riot at a shopping mall in Scottsdale, Arizona in June.

“The FBI is executing a federal search warrant at a residence in Calabasas in connection with an ongoing investigation,” an FBI representative revealed in a statement.

“The affidavit in support of the search warrant has been sealed by a judge and I am, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation. No arrests are planned.”

A neighbour told CBSLA that they had heard “big loud explosions at night … just mysterious things in the night”.

Paul’s attorney, Richard Schonfeld, confirmed that Paul was outside of California while his home was raided, and said: “We are still gathering information and will cooperate with the investigation.”

In July, Paul faced criticism for hosting a day-long party at his home, in which guests were filmed wearing no protective face masks and violating social distancing guidelines.

Paul, 23, rose to fame on the video sharing app Vine, before crossing over to YouTube. He is renowned for his provocative humour and pranks.
