However, fans hoping to watch more of The Gang’s shenanigans could be waiting longer than expected. Speaking to TV Guide, Kaitlin Olson — who plays Dee — revealed that busy schedules are preventing the main actors reprising their roles this coming year.
"We ended up pushing our next season a year because we were all busy with separate projects this year," she said. "So at the end of this coming shooting season of The Mick I'll step right into Sunny after that.”
Olsen currently leads The Mick, which was recently renewed by Fox for a second season. the show centres on Olsen’s irresponsible character who gets stuck looking after her nice permanently.
Her husband and fellow It’s Always Sunny star Rob McElhenney has signed on to direct the upcoming Minecraft movie, while Charlie Day stars in the coming Pacific Rim sequel.
Glenn Howerton — who plays Dennis — has hinted at departing the show, the character having finished the season ambiguously. Howerton will star in the upcoming series A.P. Bio alongside Patton Oswalt and previously appeared in House of Cards and Fargo.
Meanwhile, Danny DeVito currently stars in The Price on Broadway alongside Mark Ruffalo. The production has seen DeVito nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play.
