From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Sun claims the presenter joins other contestants such as EastEnders star Shane Richie, Olympic champion Mo Farah and Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard on the show. ITV is expected to confirm who is on the official line-up this weekend.
Fellow radio presenter Greg James joked: “If the rumours about @jordannorth1 doing I’m A Celeb are true then it’s the MOST Jordan North thing ever that he’ll miss out on going to Australia and will instead be stuck in a castle in Wales. In winter.”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s I’m A Celebrity is taking place in Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales, rather than Murwillumbah in New South Wales, Australia.
Presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will return as hosts for the show's premiere on 15 November.
Ant and Dec will take on their first ever Bushtucker Trial in celebration of I'm a Celebrity’s 20th anniversary.
The ITV show's hosts flipped roles for a new special set to be broadcast a week before the next series begins.
These trials typically see contestants undertake a challenging, often fear-inducing, task involving creepy crawlies.
It has now been revealed that the pair have taken on three trials, one of which sees McPartlin attempt to eat a fish eye.
