Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Joey Essex, 23, reality TV star

Who? Joey Essex is a key character in one of the UK’s most popular reality TV shows, The Only Way Is Essex. Sadly, he’ll be missing the Christmas special this year.

Why take part?: Joey is unashamedly hoping that a beautiful single female contestant shall be joining him on the show. “I will have my shirt off all the time.”

What he says: “Even if I touch a dog or a cat, I wash my hands. My reactions are going to be heightened in the jungle for sure!”

Most likely to humilate himself: Pestering his campmates to play hide and seek with him and competing with Steve for “joker of the camp”.

Phobias: Any creepy crawlies and general dirty things.

Ideal campsite comrade: “A bit of eye candy would be nice...please!”

Looking forward to: I'm not sure I can bring myself to write 'a beautiful girl' again.

Odds of a jungle romance?: As if the message has somehow failed to get across...“I’m single at the moment. If there was a nice girl in there and I got on really well with her, who knows what would happen?!”
