From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

It was announced in June 2017 that series co-creator Neil Cross had signed up Idris Elba to return as the grizzled detective for four brand new episodes of the crime series. The character was last seen on screen in 2015.
While plot details remain sparse, the teaser comes with one bold warning: “This will hurt.”
Elba has teased the show's return promising a “classic” return to form by assuring fans: “We're not reinventing the wheel."
The new series will see the return of Alice Morgan, the murderer turned ally played by Ruth Wilson who confirmed her appearance to The Independent earlier this year.
“[Alice] is in it,” she said, adding: “It's not what you expect. She's definitely back for a bit. She is back with a vengeance.”
The series has generated a cult fan base since it began in 2010. Cross has made no secret of the fact that he'd like to bring the character to the big screen following the show's success overseas. Discussing these plans, Elba added: “It’s very much in our minds, the film. I think it could be an amazing series of films.”
Luther series five currently has no premiere date.
