From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rumours that I'm A Celebrity producers had plans to fly contestant Joey Essex's former lover Sam Caiers into the jungle have been quashed.

"It's an untrue story, she is not going in," a spokesperson for the show said, disappointing viewers hoping for a dose of mindless drama.

With reality TV star Joey enjoying a sickly sweet flirtation with model Amy Willerton, Sam's entrance would have caused some sharp intakes of breath.

Last year's runner-up, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, suggested the speculation was hot air on This Morning.

"They've confirmed that there is no truth to this whatsoever," she said.

Presenter Phillip Schofield added: "We were led to believe that Sam Faiers was going to go in there and the press office have said 'no'. You don't want to put someone else in the way to potential new love, do you?"

In the episode set to air tonight, Joey is seen receiving a back massage from Amy and undertaking his second bushtucker trial alongside chat show host Matthew Wright.
