Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy were spotted filming for the Game of Thrones prequel series at Holywell Bay Beach in Cornwall on Tuesday (27 April).
The Doctor Who star was sporting all-black attire and a platinum blonde wig as Prince Daemon Targaryen, closely resembling Viserys Targaryen (Daenerys’s brother) from Game of Thrones’s first season.
Likewise, Emma D’Arcy – who will star in the HBO show as Daemon’s wife and niece Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen – wore a braided ice-blonde hairdo and a red dress in a similar style to Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys.
Their red and black outfits reflect the colours of House of Targaryen.
Recently, speculation over the series’ filming locations has been fuelled by film crews spotted in the southwestern county last week.
The show’s star-studded cast will see Smith and D’Arcy joined by Paddy Considine (King Viserys Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alice Hightower), Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower), Steve Toussaint (The Sea Snake), Sonoyo Mizuno, Eve Best and Fabien Frankel.
House of the Dragon follows the Targaryen family in Westeros. It takes place 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones. The series is based on author George RR Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, published in 2018.
It is one of six separate Game of Thrones–related projects in development at the studio.
Yesterday, HBO released images of the cast doing a socially distanced table read and confirmed that production for the highly anticipated spin-off is underway.
