His Dark Materials viewers were delighted to see Fleabag stars Andrew Scott and Phoebe Waller-Bridge reunite in the fantasy drama’s latest episode.

In July, it was revealed that Waller-Bridge would voice the daemon of Scott’s character, Colonel John Parry.

Last night (Sunday 29 November), the reunion finally took place, with Waller-Bridge playing daemon Sayan Kötör, a physical representation of Parry’s soul in the form of an osprey.

The scene went down a treat with viewers, with many pointing out the irony of the casting given the pair’s sexual tension in the second season of Fleabag, in which Scott played a hot priest and the love interest of Waller-Bridge’s antiheroine.

“Great episode of #HisDarkMaterials last night topped off by phoebe Waller bridge finally getting to be Andrew Scott’s bird. (For all the fleabag fans),” wrote one viewer.

Another said: “What a brilliant casting idea to get Moriaty himself Andrew Scott in it and have Phoebe Waller-Bridge voice his daemon.”

“Watching His Dark Materials and hearing phoebe waller-bridge voicing andrew scotts daemon makes me very happy,” a third added.

“lil serotonin boost of the day.”

His Dark Materials airs on Sunday evenings at 8.10pm on BBC One.
