Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A Nickelodeon insider told The Independent that a Hey Arnold! return is very much on the cards, while Rugrats could soon be back on our screens too.
“We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way,” Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nickelodeon, told Variety.
You Can’t Do That on Television and Victorious are also rumoured to be revamped, though these potential commissions would likely be in the form of one-off specials rather than full seasons.
While more modern shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and iCarly have been big for Nickelodeon, the network is keen to cater to grown-up kids who now have children of their own.
“We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back,” Hicks said.
Delving into their back catalogue, this could also spell a return for Doug, Clarissa and more.
