An Avengers character is set to undergo a huge development in a new Marvel TV show.

With WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier due to arrive in early 2021, filming is now taking place on Hawkeye, which will see Jeremy Renner reprise the role of archer Clint Barton.

The series will see the character hand over the bow and arrow to Kate Bishop, a new addition played by Hailee Steinfeld.

Many Marvel fans have been theorising for some time that the TV show could be the perfect time to bring a famous comic book series moment to fruition – one that changes Hawkeye’s character in a big way.

In the comics, Hawkeye loses his hearing, and a report about a casting call seems to hint this will happen in the Disney+ series.

According to the report, the show is "actively looking" for a “middle-aged Chinese audiologist who works in a rundown building and is off-the-books”.

The fact an audiologist is potentially appearing in a Hawkeye TV show is suggestive of the fact that Clint Barton will be losing his hearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, the casting could be a corroboration of another rumour surrounding the introduction of Daredevil character Echo, who is deaf.

Hawkeye is expected to arrive in 2021. The character was last seen in Avengers: Endgame.
