From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off line-up has been revealed, with a broad range of famous contestants set to enter the tent.

In a surprising turn of events, Louis Theroux will compete against This Morning’s Alison Hammond on the 2020 series, as well as James Blunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Carol Vorderman, tennis player Johanna Konta and Queer Eye’s Tan France.

Also taking part in the forthcoming series are EastEnders star Patsy Palmer, actor Caroline Quentin, presenter Alex Jones, TV judge Rob Rinder, presenter Scarlett Moffatt, comedian Mo Gilligan, radio host Kelly Brook, Love Island star Ovie Soko, YouTuber Joe Sugg, comedians Joel Dommett and Russell Howard, actor James Buckley and author Jenny Eclair.

Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will be on judging duties while Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will be back to host.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off will once again raise money as part of Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer initiative.

It will air in five parts in 2020, with four celebrities battling for the Star Baker crown over three rounds – the Signature, the Technical and the Showstopper.
