From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Good Morning Britain’s weather presenter Laura Tobin jumbled her words with amusing results during Wednesday’s show (6 January).

Tobin was providing updates on what was the coldest night of winter so far, but ended up unintentionally “brightening the mornings” of a number of viewers.

During a segment, Tobin got caught up while describing the “sleet and snow” expected in the south east.

“It’s now slowly turning back to sleet and rain, but [making] a very slutty, slushy, deposits,” she said.

She attempted to rectify her mistake but appeared to repeat the same word.

Good Morning Britain viewers picked up on the awkward error, with one viewer tweeting: “What's all this about a slutty deposit?”

Another commented: “Slutty deposit.... #ukweather Sorry Laura it brightened our morning.”

Good Morning Britain is presented by Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan, the latter of whom has already used his first week back after Christmas to go after a number of celebrities.

On Monday (4 January), Morgan condemned TV host Kirstie Allsopp for making “cretinous” comments after she accused the BBC of “scaring kids” about coronavirus.

During the same show, he called comedian James Acaster a “little pasty-faced weasel” for swearing at Lorraine Kelly.
