From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Golden Globe Awards has announced that 2021 hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will lead the ceremony from two locations this year.

While Fey broadcasts live from The Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center in New York City, Poehler will host from the Globes’ usual location inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. The news was first announced by Variety.

The rationale for hosting in two separate locations was made by the show's organisers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC, and Dick Clark Productions, as the entertainment industry continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Golden Globe nominations will be announced on Wednesday, 3 February, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P Henson announcing the major categories at 5:35am PT/8:35am ET, live on NBC’s Today show.

The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air on 28 February on NBC. Fey and Poehler are set to reunite as hosts for the first time since 2015.

"We just have a few final questions," Poehler told Late Night host Seth Meyers when the news was announced in January. “When, how, why, where and what? Just those, that's all we need to find out. But we're going to figure it out."

“NBC has long been home to two of the funniest people on the planet – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Paul Teledgy said when the news was officially announced during the Television Critics Association Tour. “And we didn't want to wait any longer to share the great news that they'll be hosting the Globes once again.”
