From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Gogglebox is one of those Marmite TV shows people either love or hate; the idea of watching other people watch TV being ridiculous to some, entertaining to others.
For those who do enjoy the Channel 4 show, though, the latest family departure will be entirely saddening.
In an interview with The Sun, Steph and Dom - who have been with the show since the first series - confirmed they are “taking a break” from being watched watching TV.
"We think it's important that everyone gets their chance to be on Gogglebox and give their opinion,” the couple told the publication. "Having been on it from the beginning we felt like we'd pretty much said all we needed to say, and we knew what we were going say.”
Despite saying their departure would only be a temporary break, from Steph’s admission, it doesn’t sound like they’re rushing back anytime soon.
She said: “We think it's important that everyone gets their chance to be on Gogglebox and give their opinion. Having been on it from the beginning we felt like we'd pretty much said all we needed to say, and we knew what we were going say.
"I'm so touched that people have been missing us, because I think there are some incredibly funny characters on there so the fact we're missed is quite a big deal for us. We do still watch it and we enjoy the new characters.”
