From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Netflix has just released a new show that’s receiving extremely high praise from viewers.

Users of the streaming service are loving teen series Ginny and Georgia, which was released on Wednesday (24 February).

Many are now expressing surprise on social media at just how much they’re enjoying it.

The show, which Rolling Stone described as “the new Gilmore Girls, dialled up to 11”, follows mature 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry), and her relationship with her mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) after they move to a small town in New England.

While plenty of users watched the show with a level of scepticism, considering Netflix doesn’t have the best track record with its TV shows, they were pleasantly surprised to find the show to be one of the best new offerings in a while.

“Started watching Ginny and Georgia this morning and it’s the best show,” one viewer wrote.

Another excited fan added: “IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It is even better than i imagined.”

One viewer branded Ginny and Georgia their “new favourite show”.

Many fans are urging the streaming service to renew the show as opposed to prematurely cancelling it, like it did with recent acclaimed show Teenage Bounty Hunters and I Am Not Okay With This.

The series, which has been praised for its diversity, also stars Jennifer Robertson, best known as Jocelyn Schitt in the beloved sitcom Schitt’s Creek.

Ginny and Georgia is available to stream on Netflix now.
