Game of Thrones star Kit Harington sought therapy after infamous Jon Snow death secret

The actor said his year after the scene was broadcast 'wasn’t a very good time' in his life

Kit Harington has revealed he sought therapy after feeling “unsafe” following Jon Snow’s death scene in HBO series Game of Thrones.

The actor, whose character was fatally wounded at the end of season five before being resurrected in season six, found himself under such intense scrutiny following the scene’s airing that he began feeling “vulnerable” in public.

“It wasn’t a very good time in my life,” Harington told Variety. “I felt I had to feel that I was the most fortunate person in the world when actually, I felt very vulnerable.”

Harington said that maintaining an “appearance” while enduring people shouting “Are you dead?” at him on the street left him feeling “shaky”.

“I had a shaky time in my life around there – like I think a lot of people do in their Twenties,” Harington continued. “That was a time when I started therapy and started talking to people. I had felt very unsafe and I wasn’t talking to anyone. I had to feel very grateful for what I have, but I felt incredibly concerned about whether I could about whether I could even f***ing act.”

Harington returns as Jon Snow in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which begins on HBO and Sky Atlantic on 14 April.
