From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference. The trailer for the eighth season of Game of Thrones has broken HBO's record for most-watched trailer within a 24 hour period.
According to the network, 81 million people watched the trailer across all online platforms (including Twitter, YouTube, Facebook) in just one day.
HBO says the previous record was held by the season seven trailer, which accumulated 60 million views in 24 hours.
The trailer consisted of actual footage from the upcoming six episodes and sent Thrones speculators into a tizzy.
Considering how fans thought a new poster, featuring Jon Snow (Kit Harington), teased the character's fate, the minutes worth of new footage quickly had everyone frantically talking.
“It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death,” co-executive producer Bryan Cogman recently said of the final season.
The show’s actors, though – including Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont) – revealed the “gruelling“ shoot left them “broken” and “miserable”.
HBO has a huge year ahead, with the end of Thrones ushering in a new era for the cable network.
New shows set to premiere throughout 2019 include the Jordan Peele/J.J. Abrams horror drama Lovecraft Country, Kathryn Hahn comedy Mrs Fletcher and a “remix” of Watchmen from Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof, whose acclaimed drama The Leftovers concluded on the channel in 2017.
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones reaches HBO and Sky Atlantic on 14 April. Read everything we know about the final season here.
