It's been known for some time that the HBO series won't be on television screens at all in 2018, but will make its final stand at some stage in 2019.
Williams - who has played Arya Stark since the series began in 2010 - told Metro: “We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes.“
She continued: “There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”
If true, Thrones would be returning to the spring release the first six seasons premiered in following the seventh run's delayed release of summer 2017.
William's reveal goes against previous reports which suggested the final season was halfway through production. Whether she's referring to reshoots is unknown.
Speaking about what the actor wants from her character's arc in the final episodes, Williams said: “I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”
Williams currently comprises the voice cast of Aardman animation Early Man alongside Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston.
