From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The penultimate episode of Game of Thrones season six looks set to be stunning: director Miguel Sapochnik - who also helmed ‘Hardhome’ - previously revealed that 25 days were spent filming the episode, which features over 400 extras.

Titled ‘Battle of the Bastards’, the episode will see Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton face-off in what will no doubt be a tense, heart-wrenching battle.

Ramsay actor Iwan Rheon has since teased his character’s relationship with the Stark, calling the pair “Ying and Yang”.

“Anyone who has asked me, ‘Who would you like Ramsay to meet?’ My answer has always been, ‘Jon Snow,’” he told EW.

“He’s the antithesis of Ramsay. They’re almost a yin and a yang. They both come from such a similar place yet they’re so different. And even though they’re enemies, they’ve both risen so far as bastards, which is almost incomprehensible, and now they’re both here facing each other. They couldn’t be any more different, yet more similar.”

Rumour has it that the ‘Battle of the Bastards’ won’t be the only thing happening in episode nine. **possible spoilers in link** Meanwhile, the director of the last two Game of Thrones episodes has spoken about the recent Arya storyline, confirming that it was basically just bad writing.
