From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After a rip-roaring premiere and a Bran Stark no-show, Ned Stark’s son will finally be making his reappearance in Game of Thrones having not be in the show since season four.

In a preview clip for episode two, Bran is seen waking up almost where we left off in season four (the actor, Isaac Hempstead Wright, looking notably older).

The teaser also shows Cersei Lannister clashing with the Kingsguard, while Jaime confesses his darkest sins to the Hight Sparrow (an extended version of which can be watched here).

There’s also a clip of Brienne of Tarth conversing with Sansa Stark in the wilderness.

Meanwhile, just hours before the episode aired on HBO and Sky Atlantic, the first episode, “The Red Woman”, leaked online, leading to hundreds of spoilers flooding the internet.

The episode itself has led to speculators around the world wondering what is going on with Melisandre, read our recap here. Daenerys actress Emilia Clarke has also spoken about her character’s future in season six.
