From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Game of Thrones season six has been a little low on the love angle thus far save for Samwell and Gilly (and even that scene involved vomiting).

Hints of potential romance arrived in the HBO series' latest episode 'The Book of the Stranger,' however, and they came courtesy of Castle Black's new arrivals, Brienne of Tarth and Sansa Stark.

While many are assuming the moment heralds surefire romance between Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and wildling Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hibju), it was a more fleeting look between two other characters that seems to carry a little more weight.

The scene in question takes place immediately before Jon Snow reads out the threatening scroll sent to him by Ramsay Bolton. Ahead of that moment, it's a brief interaction between Stark (Sophie Turner) and Snow's loyal steward, Eddison Tollett (Ben Crompton) that may come back into play in a few episode's time (for poor Sansa's sake, we hope anyway).

"Sorry about the food. It's not what we're known for," he says, making small talk.

"It's alright," Sansa replies, a rare smile on her face. "There are more important things."

Cue sustained gaze.

Of course, this isn't to say that Brienne and Tormund didn't share a moment; he certainly gives her the eyes while tucking into his meat - even if Brienne does look particularly disgusted by his eating habits.

Love, for a short while at least, could well be in the air at Castle Black. With Ramsay's dogs prowling, however, happiness will be short-lived. Probably.

A preview of episode five - titled 'The Door' - has been released teasing the return of the series' most fearsome character.
