From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The fortress played a prominent role in English history much like King's Landing has in Westeros', and will be a dramatic and menacing setting for the screening.
It follows a Game of Thrones banquet held in a marble Masonic temple elsewhere in London last week to celebrate season 4's release on DVD, where poached veal tongue and Dragon (emu) scotch egg were served up.
Sky Atlantic is giving away 25 tickets to the premiere in a competition it promises to announce details on shortly.
"Across Europe Game of Thrones is loved by Sky customers and a brand defining show for Sky Atlantic. As the exclusive home of Game of Thrones in our home markets, it's tremendously exciting for Sky to host the first World Premiere in Europe with our partners from HBO," said Gary Davey, Sky’s Managing Director of Content.
"Game of Thrones is the must see show of the year and a massive show for Sky Atlantic so I am delighted we will be hosting the World Premiere for this epic show at the Tower of London. I can’t think of a more fitting venue to give what promises to be another unmissable series its big launch," added Zai Bennett Director of Sky Atlantic.
Game of Thrones season 5 begins on Sky Atlantic in the UK on April 13.
