The couple met on the set of the fantasy drama series in 2012, where they played on-screen lovers Jon Snow, and wilding Ygritte.
Leslie left the cast after two years, while Harington has become one of the show's biggest names; appearing in all seven seaons of the HBO drama.
They made their public debut as a couple at the Olivier Awards in 2016.
An official announcement was published in The Times newspaper, which said: "The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire."
While the pair have kept their relationship mostly private, Harington told L'Uomo Vogue last year that it was "easy" to fall in love with Leslie and confirmed speculation that they were dating.
He said his best memory of Game of Thrones was filming in Iceland for three weeks during rthe second season in 2012.
"Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love," he said.
"If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love."
Leslie is currently starring in The Good Fight, a US television series.
Harington is set to star in the eighth, final season of Game of Thrones which will likely air in late 2018 or early 2019.
Following the conclusion of season 7, he will appear in BBC drama Gunpowder, about the gunpowder plot of 1605.
