Game of Thrones fans will soon be able to play a special Westeros version of Monopoly when the new edition hits stores later this year.

HBO has announced the official board game, which will feature locations such as King’s Landing, Winterfell and Castle Black and see players ferociously buy, trade and sell in a bid to ascend the Iron Throne.

Train stations in the classic London Monopoly have been replaced with families and bannermen, while for some reason free parking is still a thing, despite there being no cars. Green houses are villages and red hotels are keeps.

Players can choose between a white walker, direwolf, three-eyed raven, dragon egg, crown and the Iron Throne as pieces.

Monopoly is a game of power, wealth and control, which arguably makes it a perfect fit as the first mainstream Game of Thrones board game.

The age rating has gone up to a recommend 18 and over as there is more war, violence and death involved than the 8+ original.

Game of Thrones Monopoly will be available to buy for $60 in the US and is expected to land on UK shores at some point, but when remains to be seen.

There have been many themed Monopoly boards across the years, some official and some not so, including ones based on Only Fools and Horses, Heinz, horses, Bass fishing and of course, beer.
