From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Over the course of Game of Thrones short history, numerous stars from the world of music have cameoed in Westeros, including Coldplay, Snow Patrol, and Sigur Ros.

Casting director Carla Strange claims A-Listers from across the world are attempting to bribe their way onto the show as they hope to star alongside the likes of Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, and Peter Dinklage before the final two seasons conclude.

“We get really strange things and letters and emails from people trying to get out attention,” she told Metro. “One person sent playing cards where every playing card has their face on it doing a different emotion. Really classy.”

Refusing to name any names, Strange continued: “Someone even sent me a Stormtrooper with a sticker of themselves on it. I’ve had people send Kit Kats. You get very random things in the post.”

Apparently getting sent weird items isn’t an oddity: stars have been sending her things “365 days a year” just for bit-parts. “The stars generally go to the producers directly but then they have a hard time trying to figure out where to put them. There are only so many cameos that you can have!”

Meanwhile, spoilers for season seven have been leaking from the show’s various Spanish sets over the last few weeks, including Jon Snow meeting [spoiler] and [spoiler] [spoiler]. Season seven starts next summer.
