From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. David Schwimmer is returning to Friends’ spiritual home of Channel 4, with the actor joining new sitcom Morning Has Broken.

The six-episode show centres around a failing morning chat show - presumably parodying GMTV, BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain etc - was written by Nighty Night’s Julia Davis and will air in 2016.

Schwimmer will play an American TV producer who is brought in to rescue the breakfast show, while Davis will play anchor and “Queen of Daytime” Gail Sinclair.

"Julia is undoubtedly one of our most talented comedic writers and actresses and it's a testament to the quality of her writing that she can attract such a big star,” said Rachel Springett, Channel 4's commissioning editor for comedy.”

Schwimmer will be hoping his stint in a British sitcom is successful as fellow Friends star Matt Le Blanc’s, who won awards for his role in BBC comedy Episodes.

Until now, Schwimmer has mostly been working behind the camera and on stage, but seems to be returning to TV slowly, having also recently joined FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
