From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The reunion special will air on the streaming service around Thanksgiving, HBO Max announced on Monday.
Will Smith will star alongside his former cast mates Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
The reunion is currently scheduled for taping on 10 September, marking the 30th anniversary of the show’s premiere in the US.
HBO MAx, the streaming home of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, described the upcoming reunion as “a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests”.
The sitcom ran for six seasons between 1990 and 1996 and remains a fan favourite to this day.
News of the reunion comes not long after it was announced that the iconic series might be getting a reboot.
The show, which was reportedly being shopped to streamers earlier this month, is based on a fan-based trailer giving the sitcom a new, more dramatic look.
