Normal People and Fleabag crossover for RTE comic relief

Fleabag and Normal People joined forces for a special TV crossover event, in aid of RTE’s Comic Relief in Ireland.

In the video, characters Marianne and Connell are seen taking part in separate confessions to the “Hot Priest” (Andrew Scott) from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s hit show.

Eventually it transpires that Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) has stolen Connell’s (Connell Mescal) infamous chain after they fell out.

The couple then realise they are on either side of the priest’s confessional booth and begin to engage in a long-winded conversation about their relationship.

Filming took place at a social distance due to current lockdown rules.

Sharing the sketch on Twitter, Mescal urged people to donate to the charity.

Mescal and Edgar-Jones had previously performed a sketch that imagined Connell and Marianne’s life together, 40 years into the future.

Normal People was adapted from author Sally Rooney's novel of the same name, and received widespread critical acclaim – particuarly for the performances of its two stars.

Both Normal People and Fleabag are available now on BBC iPlayer.
