Felicity Huffman: Actor among thirteen parents who will plead guilty in college admissions scandal, prosecutors say

Actor is among 14 people who have agreed to plead guilty

Felicity Huffman has agreed to plead guilty in what prosecutors have called the largest college admissions scam uncovered in US history.

The former Desperate Housewives star is among 14 people who have agreed to enter the plea in the case, authorities announced on Monday.

Thirteen parents “will plead guilty to using bribery and other forms of fraud to facilitate their children’s admission to selective colleges and universities”, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

One coach will also enter a guilty plea.

Huffman is accused of agreeing to pay a proctor at least $15,000 (£11,500) to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme for her oldest daughter.

She is among the defendants charged with one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

Officials say parents allegedly paid an admissions consultant to rig their children’s test scores and bribe coaches at elite universities to designate their kids as athletic recruits.

Fellow actor Lori Loughlin and Loughlin’s fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are also charged in the scam.

They are not among those who have agreed to plead guilty and haven’t publicly addressed the allegations.
