The actor, who will reprise the role in the Disney+ series, responded after several outlets reported the show had been put on hold indefinitely due to rewrites, which was claimed to have prompted a reduction in the number of episodes that producers planned to make.
“All this bulls**t about creative differences and all that stuff is... none of it true,” the actor said during a fan event in Los Angeles for new DC film Birds of Prey.
“It’s not nearly as dramatic as it sounds online.”
He did confirm that the loss of Hossein Amini, who quit as lead writer, has delayed the show.
“I think we start shooting early next year as opposed to summer this year,” McGregor told Variety.
“I think the scripts are great. They’re in really good shape. They want them to be better. I think we keep our same air date. All good.”
He said he was bemused by the concern, adding: “I didn’t realise until we got here tonight and everybody is going, ‘Oh, my God!’”
When asked if there was truth to the reports that the episode count had been cut from six to four, he told ComicBook.com: “I haven’t heard that.”
Disney+, which is home to Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian, will also produce a spin-off focused on Diego Luna’s Rogue One character Cassian Andor.
