Emily Atack has shared a glimpse at the hundreds of cases of sexual harassment she says she experiences every day.

The actor appeared in a video for UniLad’s 13 Minutes With series, in which she revealed the abuse she receives from men online.

Atack, who starred in the E4 comedy series The Inbetweeners, said that the constant bombardment of vile messages had left her in fear for her safety.

“I receive, on a daily basis... oh, I mean, it’s hundreds, hundreds. I receive hundreds of messages,” the 31-year-old said.

“I’ve never said these out loud, it’s quite daunting sort of saying them on camera,” before reading out: “’Let daddy make you c** like the filthy s*** you are, let me impregnate you, you filthy c** w***e. I know that you’re a filthy c** s***, I know what you like.”

Of receiving graphic images, she said: “If I’d walked out into the street to get a coffee and three men had flashed me on the way, I’d be in pieces, I’d be traumatised. But there is honestly something about when it is online, and I hate to admit this, I’ve become so used to it, I just kind of go,’Oh, for f**k’s sake, ah, God, urgh.”

Atack said she often looked at the profiles of the men sending her the messages, “to see what sort of person they would be”.

“It goes from teenage boys, to middle-aged men, to really old men, old, single men that are probably desperately lonely, and older men, who are married with children, and they have daughters in their profile pictures,” she said.

However, Atack said that her stand-up comedy career has helped her take back control over her life.

“I remember when I wrote my sketch show, which I’m so proud of, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life, and I’m a sexually liberated woman, I stand up there and talk about all these things,” she said.

“The reason why I’m doing that is because I’m trying to take ownership again of my sexuality. It really does feel like I’m kicking every single guy in the b******s that has ever, ever said anything along those lines to me.”

The Emily Atack Show launched in November last year on ITV, and featured guest stars including Gemma Collins and Holly Willoughby.
