Don Cheadle used his time on Saturday Night Live to make some important political statements, which have attracted praise from audience members who tuned in to watch the show.

The Oscar-nominated actor wore two different outfits to express his views during the broadcast. The first was a t-shirt that bore the words: "Protect Trans Kids," which he wore while introducing the show's musical guest, Gary Clark Jr.

He ended the show wearing a Russian hockey jersey with "CCCP" (Russian for USSR) emblazoned across the front, and the name "Trump" on the back with the number 45.

Cheadle was widely praised for his choice of outfits. Trump has faced criticism for pursuing policies that are harmful to transgender people, and his administration was recently the subject of an empassioned speech by Ellen Page, who accused Vice President Mike Pence of stirring up hate towards the LGBT+ community.

"If you are in a position of power and you hate people and you want to cause suffering to them, you go through the trouble – you spend your career trying to cause suffering, what do you think is going to happen?" she said. "Kids are going to be abused and they are going to kill themselves and people are going to be beaten on the street."
